Diary of a Loser: Week 7
Let me apologize upfront for posting this a day late. I actually did write an entry for yesterday but it was swallowed up by the magic of the internet . . . Don’t you hate when that happens?
Well anyway, I am up to my eyeballs in Christmas cooking. I’m in charge of dessert (and also have to make a few food gifts to pass out) so it’s been cookie making and candy setting in my kitchen lately. Normally these two things wouldn’t mesh well with weightloss but I have been able to stay on the straight and narrow so far with it and not indulge in my creations. Of course, I have been sampling a bit to be sure that they come out as planned, but after that one bite, I just pass them along to my husband. Usually.
I am approaching this Christmas with moderation in mind. I don’t have to eat everything in sight just because it’s there (and no, I have NEVER done that) but that doesn’t mean I cannot sample several delicious items that I would normally consider off limits.
Here are a few resources around the web to keep you (and me) in line for the next few days . . .
- If you are looking for a way to make your Christmas recipes healthier, check out Eat Better America. It’s a pretty cool site with diet and exercise tips and it has this nifty “Healthify My Recipe” feature.
- Looking for healthier treats? Check out the recipes at Cooking Light. They are lighter than you would normally find but still packed with flavor.
- SparkPeople is running a new campaign to help people reach their New Year weightloss goals. I checked it out and it seems like their 2007 Fast Break plan is their normal plan with a spiffier name. Nonetheless, I have lost tons of weight on SparkPeople and definitely recommend it.

I love Christmas but I too have to watch myself.
