Sara- i have the opposite problem: i have been running daily for over 30 years and for various reasons (knees and other things wearing out) i have been cutting back on speed and miles. As you would expect, the pounds have been gradually piling on. I have trouble with moderation and love food, so i thought i was doomed. But after reading your article i realized that i don't drink half as much water as i used to. i am psyched to try your recipe with no salt, and perhaps some ginger? Keeping hydrated may also help satisfy some hunger pangs and keep me from overeating.

Stacy - that's so exciting -congratulations! I have to point out that the recipe should list Agave Nectar instead of sugar as the main sweetener... Hopefully that information will be corrected soon. Best of luck to you and happy running!

wow, im so thrilled that i was directed to your website via serious eats. i am going to start training for a marathon this week (!) and your tips were so helpful! i will definitely be making the "spa water" drink, as i often notice i need a little flavor and a little salt when i run to keep the cramps at bay. thanks!
