The Bridal Diet Continues…

I’m feeling much better this week!
In my last post, I talked about how hard it is for me to maintain my diet while dealing with work and wedding stress. Surprisingly, adding house hunting to my list of things to do has made it easier for me to pay attention to what I put in my body.
This past week, I’ve really focused on my portion size. Living with a guy can help and hinder you in this department. What happens with many couples is that they both end up eating the same amount of food. In reality, women need much fewer calories then men. So, my fiance and I have been working together to make sure my portions are smaller than his. I’ve also made a conscious effort to drink tons of water. It is amazing how much better you feel when you get your eight glasses a day.
In addition to thinking about what I’m putting into my body, I’ve been working on the outside of my body too. In my humble opinion, being fit is not just about your diet. I’ve made a conscious effort to maintain my “beauty” regime this week by taking care of my skin, nails, hair and teeth. Little things like that make you feel more beautiful on the inside and out. I feel better about myself and it makes me want to work harder…. to feel even better next week and the week after that, etc.
The only thing that I slacked on this week was working out. My fiance and I have been looking for a house. That means I have been waking up early (I sleep during the day because I work nights) and going out for hours at a time with our realtor. By the time we get home, we’re exhausted and ready for bed (I always catch a few extra hours before I go into work at one a.m.). However, we’ve been trying to make up for the lack of gym time by walking as many places as we can. We live very close to a shopping center, so instead of driving to the grocery store, we’ve been walking.
One of the greatest moments this past week was finding my wedding dress. It was only the third dress I tried on, but it was perfect. I felt beautiful in it and it was very encouraging… because I want to try and look even better in it by the time August 18th rolls around. The salesgirl at the boutique took my measurements and told me I was a perfect size eight. I mean, literally every measurement was on the dot. That was encouraging as well. My new goal is to work my way down to a size six.
For the next two weeks, my goals are to continue my diet of small portions (including adding more fruit and veggies to my diet) and to start running more. I love going to the gym, but I have a huge passion for running. The weather has started to calm down here in the great Northwest, and its a great time to hit the pavement with my favorite running shoes. I hope to have more great news for you next week, and I would love to hear more feedback from my fellow dieters.
Oh, and I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!!!

Great going … I am also on a “Wedding Diet” … trying to lose 20 pounds in 2 months … I will keep you posted
Warm regards
