Why Eat a Lutein-Rich Diet?

arugula.jpgThere are literally hundreds of diets and eating plans swirling around … Gluten-Free, South Beach, Carbohydrates Addict, Vegan, Vegetarian … it’s enough to make your head spin. But Lutein-Rich? It’s something I’ve actually never heard of, until I spied a little piece on it in a recent issue of Woman’s Day magazine.

Want to keep your eyes healthy and keep eye disease at bay? Then researchers suggest following a Lutein-Rich diet. The nutrient lutein (commonly found in dark leafy greens, tomatoes, peaches and even carrots) builds your eye’s immunity and reduces your risk for macular degeneration, which is one of the most common, yet still incurable, eye diseases.

If that’s not enough of a reason to eat your fruits and veggies, I don’t know what is.
