Biting into Nature Valley Cereal: A Review
I think I might have cheered the day the box of Nature Valley cereal appeared in my mailbox. Of course, I was expecting the sample, I’d volunteered to test it out when I saw it was available for us here at Fit Fare. But the day it came, I was just so excited to try it. Nature Valley granola bars happen to be a favorite of mine. In fact, they sustained me through much of college (hello, breakfast!). Though I am not a cereal person, if I going to be, this would be the cereal for me.
When my son, Will, and I poured a bowl to snack on (minutes later), I wasn’t disappointed. The cereal contains little bits of the Nature Valley Oats and Honey granola bars. And delicious, perfectly sweetened flakes complemented the thicker granola bar pieces.
What Nature Valley cereal isn’t is artificially fortified. That being said, I am not entirely a believer in artificial fortification - If you want more vitamin c, eat an orange, not a bowl of cereal. But I could just be nuts. Nonetheless, it contains all natural ingredients - no mystery preservatives or anything. And the serving size is a real persons size: 1 cup (there are 230 calories in a cup). The percentages of nutrients are low, if existent at all.
So, if you are looking for a cereal that will meet your daily requirements in a bowl - go somewhere else. But if you are a fan of all natural foods, Nature Valley is for you. I sampled the Oats and Honey flavor, but it’s also available in Cinnamon.
