Watermelon Facts … Did You Know?

watermelon1.jpgI read something recently in an issue of Good Housekeeping magazine … that watermelon that is stored at room temperature has a higher level of antioxidants (i.e., beta-carotene and lycopene) than watermelon stored in the fridge. Really. Given how much I like biting into an icy cold chunk of watermelon, particularly lately, this is not especially good news for me, but still important to know. Furthermore, they went on to state that room temperature watermelon was actually better for you than melons that had just been picked. Go figure. Now you know.
