Drink PINK and Other Natural Food Adventures

I love grocery stores. Call me crazy, but I could spend (and have spent) hours walking the aisles at health food stores especially, exploring each shelf for interesting new foods and supplements.

So when I arrived at the Natural Products Expo East, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. It was like being in a Whole Foods that spanned more than 6 football fields. I was giddy with excitement.

Armed with two big bags for goodies and some comfy shoes, I made my way through the Expo. Or, I should say, I ate my way through the Expo sampling frozen pizzas and other organic TV dinners, nibbling on high-quality chocolate, grazing on energy bars, guzzling energy drinks, and picking through fresh nuts, dried fruits, tortilla chips and salsa.

The best part of the Expo for me was collecting samples to take home. Free healthy treats? Amazing! I gathered so many that my shoulder ached with the load. Thankfully, they had chair massages to loosen my aching back, which I gratefully purchased before heading home.

Stay tuned for a review of some of my discoveries. In the meantime, here’s one of my fabulous new favorites: Emergen-C pink. Emergen-C is a powder that you add to water to make a vitamin-enriched drink. Emergen-C has 1,000 mg of Vitamin C per serving and lots of B vitamins for energy. Feeling like you’re getting a cold? Pop a couple of these fizzy drinks and you’ll be more likely to ward of the impending doom.

Obviously I’m already a big fan of Emergen-C, and this new pink lemonade flavor is easily the best tasting of all the other flavors I’ve tried. Even better, part of the proceeds from the sale of Emergen-C PINK go to breast cancer research. Cool stuff. They also have a fun new Acai Berry flavor that’s tart and tangy. Emergen-C PINK doesn’t yet appear to be for sale, so keep an eye out at your local health food stores. Or visit the Emergen-C website and click on “Share the Good” to send some samples to a friend (or yourself)!
