A Taste of Kashi Thin Crust Pizza
I was so excited when the box of Kashi pizzas arrived on my doorstep that I nearly gave myself frostbite getting them out of the dry-ice packed box. It seems that putting only one potholder on, instead of two, was a poor decision. But was the initial excitement worthy of the product?
I certainly think so. Over all, these pizzas taste as good as they sound (though there was one that I wasn’t as enthused about). The toppings are fresh and plentiful. It’s well-flavored as a whole. The crust is extra thin with a taste that is reminiscent of Stella Doro Breadsticks, particularly around the edges where it’s extra crunchy. Granted, this isn’t pizzeria pizza, but it is the best frozen pizza I’ve had.
This pizza gets bonus points for its toddler-friendliness. Because the crust is thin and gets firm, it’s easy for a toddler to pick up a slice and eat it. Will was happy to be served this and little did he know that it’s a healthier version of his precious pizza.
Healthier? Yes. The crust is made with seven whole grains, sesame and flax seeds. The calories are low, fiber high . . . you get the drift.
- Roasted Vegetable: Artichokes, broccoli florets, fire roasted red peppers and onions with a touch of balsamic vinaigrette and a tomato-pesto sauce, mozzarella and provolone cheeses.
- My Take: I really enjoyed this one. The toppings were plentiful and went well together. Yum. This one’s a keeper.
- Mushroom Spinach: Shiitake, baby portobello and champignon mushrooms, spinach, with a tomato parmesan sauce.
- My Take: This has a heavy mushroom taste but doesn’t have a whole lot of sauce. As packaged, it is missing something. Chances are I won’t buy this one. But if you do happen to try it, drizzle a bit of srirachi sauce on it and it’s fabulous.
- Tomato Garlic Cheese: Mozzarella and provolone cheeses with ripened red tomatoes and a tomato and herb-infused sauce.
- My Take: This was Will’s favorite. Extra tasty with strong tomato and garlic presence. We’ll definitely be buying this one as a backup meal.
