Tips From the Trainer: Lose Weight Without Thinking
So, I recently participated in a Biggest Loser-type competition at work. Unfortunately, I got sick about halfway through and wasn’t as motivated as I hoped to be. I lost one pound overall (bad, but at the same time good that I didn’t gain).
My trainer offered up these tips to help me kickstart the weightloss without stress:
- Cut out the soda. I can continue to eat what I like, but the 3-4 sodas a week have to go. Will start that today — slipped up yesterday.
- Park farther away when I get to work. I started this yesterday. I parked in the far lot, which requires using two sets of stairs instead of one.
- Take a walk with the kids everyday after work. This one will be the most challenging for me. I don’t always get home at a decent hour. But a little effort never hurt anyone.

It is always great to get some good tips. I think cutting soda is a great place to start. But try to skip the fake sweeteners in all those diet sodas, as lots of recent research finds correlation between diet sodas and overall weight gain. Early on in my gradual transformation of my eating style, I found myself increasingly drinking water or unsweetened teas. When I want something more flavored I combine water and fruit juice 1:1.
